Workshop Leader - Mark Mooney

Mark took the Adjudicators Course in 2011 and brings with him thirty years of experience in community theatre and educational theatre as a director, actor and designer. After graduating with a degree in Drama and Theatre Arts from the University of Waterloo, he has spent nearly three decades teaching drama at the secondary level and served on the education committees of the Grand Theatre (London ON) and the Teacher Festival Liaison Committee of the Stratford Festival. He has also served on the Boards of community theatre groups, the Western Ontario Drama League and Theatre Ontario. Recently, he has become active in play polishing and offering workshops in acting and directing.

Playwright - Lynda Martens

This is the second time Minifest is using one of Lynda's plays; the first was "The Audition" in 2008. "The Triumphant Embarrassment of Willy Last" was first produced in 2008 in the London One Act Festival (Lynda was on stage at the time and didn't see the production, so Minifest 2013 is the first time she's seeing the play). Writing since 2007, Lynda's first play "Naked in the Kitchen" was produced in the US and published in 2010 (Scirocco Press) after winning the Bloomington Playwright's Project's Reva Shiner award. Her second full-length play "Swing Dance" is being produced by (London Community Players) in Feb 2013, and her third "Run, Father, Run" is in development. Lynda is pumped to see what your theatre can do with this crazy comedy!

Play Synopsis: What will a young man endure for a chance to impress a girl? The irrepressible Willy Last takes the audience on a crazy ride through an embarrassing day of meeting his girl friend Amy's family (mom, dad, brother and grandma) for the first time. Think the Griswolds meet the Fockers meet Modern Family.
